I LOVE using Havarti for my pizza cheese because it’s so smooth and buttery! Give this pizza combo a try and share my love for Havarti pizza.
Havarti History 101
Welcome to class.
I’ve recently found that Havarti is a completely underrated cheese and I’m here today to rectify this injustice! We need more Havarti recipes!
WE NEED MORE HAVARTI! PERIOD!
So this superior cheese was created by Hanne Nielsen, a Danish woman who traveled Europe learning the art of cheesemaking (dream job), by washing the curds in spring water. (1)
That probably means something to people who know how to make cheese?
Either way, I’m thankful Hanne was such a cheese pioneer, out there washing her curds so that we may enjoy the deliciousness that is Havarti. Amen.
Havarti + Pizza = Pizzarti 🍕❤
So why put it on pizza? Glad you asked.
The creamy, mild flavor of Havarti is so different from the salty and sometimes rubbery texture of mozzarella that it allows you to taste every component of your pizza. Herbs, sweet diced tomatoes, garlic, etc. All of the delicious things are represented fully instead of just the cheese.
Plus, it sounds super fancy and artisanal! (2)
Havarti Diced Tomato & Basil Pizza {Gluten Free & Low Carb}
Artisanal Keto Pizza?! What?!
It all starts with the crust. You could go with my favorite keto flatbread or my keto yeast pizza dough (pictured). TOP THAT with your fave pizza sauce and some diced fire-roasted tomatoes (mine are from a can) for extra flavor.
As you can see with your eyes, this Havarti is gorgeous. It’s going to melt like hot molten cheese lava all over this pizza and act as a delicious pillow for our herbs and seasonings to lay on.
And here we have a sprinkling of Mediterranean Seasoning and
tons of fresh basil. Pay close attention to the fanciness of Garlic Butter brushed on the crust. Perfect for all of the fancy pizza/wine parties you’re about to throw.
Get the Yeast Pizza Dough recipe here!
OR make it on some Buttery Skillet Flatbreads for funsies.
