This is going to be a short one, folks. Not that I am skimping on the content nor am I simply dialing it in, but seriously, words aren’t necessary to drive this baby home.
Black. Eye. Primer.
Are you shocked? Because I was FLOORED when the makeup maven at Ulta turned me on to this sweet little pot of magic. And if you are not shocked–well then shame on you for keeping this secret to yourself. My lack of smokey eye intensity and my pigmentally challenged lids are on you now.
Scary looking, I hear ya. But trust me on this one, it performs.
Here are the facts:
1. This stuff is legit
2. It is simple to use
3. It gives a big return on a small amount of product
You may be staring into the glow of your technology and asking silently (or out loud if we are anything alike), “Really Liz? This sounds too good to be true” or “How can this turn out any other way than bad?“…
Have a little faith in me, guys.
Clearly, I am not a professional by any stretch of the imagination. If I can make this happen on my lids, so can you.
Though it is pretty straight forward regarding usage, I do have some pointers to keep you from looking like an end scene from a Rocky film.
A little goes a long way- try to keep it from migrating to the crease of your eye. You want most of the intense shimmer to be in the middle of your eye lid, near the lash line. If it is in the crease, you can’t see it! Unless, of course, your eyes are shut.
Dab it on- Being a self proclaimed “inspector of all things gorgeous” I tried a few different techniques applying this. A brush does not work (for me) so I ended up using my finger to gently dab the product all over the lid. Using a brush just gunked up my brush, application was no easier.
Choosing and Using a Shadow- If you want to intensify, use a shadow that has a high-shine. Dual Chrome or Prismatic shadows look stunning. The lighter the shade, a pink for instance, the more of the black that MAY show through unless you really layer it on. Matte shadows don’t really do anything special with this product so stick with the shimmer.
The proof is in the pudding, as they say, so here are some super low quality photos of what the shadow looks like without primer and with primer!
YOU can buy this amazing eye-black anywhere they sell NYX makeup products as well as the Prismatic Shadows or just purchase them online HERE and depending on where you buy it is all under $10.
Would you give this stuff a shot? Have you used it and are now addicted to it like me?

I wish I could buy NYX here! I’ve done this before a lot to really enhance a smokey eye but I use Blackground by MAC- if I can get the same result for less $$ I’m all for it- dang NYX come my way! lol Great post hun- you’re a beauty! xx
Liz
You really can’t get it!?! Life is unfair lol! A lot of the ladies have been saying that a back eye pencil may do the same thing if it is nice and soft. Maybe give it a try? And you are too sweet <3 🙂
Kay Grace
ooooooohhh I bet you’re right with that liner tip! I have one by Urban Decay that is so creamy- it may have just been given a job change 😉 lol xx

I have been wanting to try a black primer for a while and every single time I go to Ulta I always manage to forget to get the jumbo pencil in black bean! Seriously need to make a note in my phone! Hah!
Liz
Yes you do because it is like eye shadow magic. For real. 🙂
thebeautifiedblogger
I must because I’m obsessed with the jumbo pencil in milk from NYX, but the black just takes it to the next level!

I’m guessing I was the only guy to read this. Can’t say I can apply any of it in my real life, but you used the word “pudding” so that was reason enough for me to like this post.
Liz
I wondered if it had something for everyone. I’m glad that I at least had the attention of other pudding enthusiast!
